Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is proud of its relationships with the following organisations and associations.

Allied Health Professions Australia

Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA) is the national peak body for major health professions and their representative bodies other than medical practitioners, nurses and unions. AHPA works to represent the interests of the allied health professions sector, particularly to the Federal Government; and to provide a vehicle for liaison and discussion between the professions themselves.

Bone and Joint Decade 2000-2010

The Bone and Joint Decade is initiated by the United Nations and the World Health Organisation to improve the health-related quality of life for people with musculoskeletal disorders. ESSA sits on the National Action Network.

British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences

British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) is the professional body for sport and exercise sciences in the UK. ESSA has a memorandum of understaning (MOU) with BASES.

Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology

The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) is a voluntary organisation composed of professionals interested and involved in the scientific study of exercise physiology, exercise biochemistry, fitness and health. ESSA has a memorandum of understanin MOU with CSEP.

The European College of Sport Science

The European College of Sport Science is an international non-profit organisation founded in Nice, France in 1995. Its purpose is the promotion of science and research, with special attention to the interdisciplinary fields of sport science and sports medicine. The ECSS associates scientists committed to the ECSS mission by individual membership. By organising annual scientific congresses the ECSS provides a networking platform to share your knowledge.

International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education

The International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE ) presents itself as an international organisation with a distinct scientific profile as far as its goals, structure, membership and working bodies are concerned. The main purpose of the Council is to serve as an international “umbrella” organisation concerned with the promotion and dissemination of results and findings in the field of sport science and their practical application in cultural and educational contexts.

National Primary Health Care Partnership

Twenty (20) national peak health organisations representing over 100,000 frontline health professionals working in the primary health care sector have come together to form the National Primary Health Care Partnership (NPHCP). The National Primary Health Care Partnership aims to provide an advocacy body and communications platform for the Australian Primary Health Care sector.

Physical Activity Australia

Physical Activity Australia is dedicated to advocacy, to supporting people to be more active and to representing exercise professionals. Established in 1982 and with nearly 30 years‘ experience, we are Australia’s leading organisation working towards change and improvement to physical activity environments. We aim for all Australians, young and old, to be active every day.

Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health

Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) is nationally recognised as a peak body representing rural and remote allied health professionals. SARRAH is a ‘grassroots’ organisation whose membership consists of individual allied health professionals across rural and remote Australia.

Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand

Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand is a not-for-profit incorporated society acting as the professional body for New Zealand’s sport and exercise scientists, practitioners and students. ESSA has a MOU with SESNZ.

Sports Medicine Australia

Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) is Australia’s peak national umbrella body for sports medicine and sports science, and is widely acknowledged overseas as the world’s leading multi-disciplinary sports medicine body. SMA through its individual and organisational members is Australia’s peak advisory body on all medical and health issues for active people – from weekend enthusiasts of all ages through to elite level competition.
