ESSA Mental Health ASK: Part 3 - The Lived Experience and Evaluating Practice: Understanding the Lived Experience  

This unit will explore lived experiences. Join us as we interview three people who have experienced a mental illness. 

Interview 1: We talk to a former emergency services employee who has experienced PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and Substance Use Disorder.
Interview 2: We talk to someone who has the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depression and Complex PTSD.
Interview 3: We talk to Georgia Wilson, Australian Hockeyroo as she talks to us about her long battle with an Eating Disorder and how it impacted her life and ability to do the sport she loves.

Each interview will help you understand each person’s perspective on their own journey, how their life is impacted by the mental illness, how they found exercising during their illness, what their recovery has looked like, and what has been helpful to them.

Warning: These interviews contain graphic descriptions of events that listeners may find distressing or triggering. The interviews contain details of fatal accidents attended by emergency personnel, discussion around suicide and self-harm, as well as descriptions of eating disorder behaviours.
