C.A.S.E. - Collaborative Approach To the Science of Exercise
C.A.S.E. is a brand new learning opportunity for our accredited exercise professionals to gain valuable experience across every aspect of the exercise intervention process. 

This 1-hour session will be facilitated by an Accredited Exercise Scientist, Accredited Exercise Physiologist and a Physiotherapist to allow participants to gain a diverse range of knowledge and expertise from each professional. 

These experts will showcase a client case study before fostering group discussion during the needs analysis and programming portions of the session. For you as an exercise professional it is all about ensuring you prescribe every exercise with a purpose. 

We will also be providing you with a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with your peers that will provide a valuable platform to network and share experiences.

C.A.S.E will empower professionals by experiencing best practice communication and referral processes to allow you to thrive in a multidisciplinary landscape and provide the best outcomes for clients. 

This course will cover: 
• Long term athletic development and the importance of physical literacy
• Training considerations for netball and other court sport athletes
• Common knee and ankle injuries in netball
• Group discussion to foster collaboration and networking

Presented by Jackson Silvester-Lee AES, Luke Postlethwaite AES, AEP, John Olsen and Mitchell Finn AES

Jackson Silvester-Lee is an AES with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA). He gained a bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sport Science from Bond University. He has since also become an Australian Strength & Conditioning Association coach. Growing up, Jackson had a dream to play professional rugby and while playing for Bond University he sustained a career ending injury. Since then, his passion has been shifted to helping young athletes achieve their own goals in sports. Jackson has extensive work experience as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Bond University Elite Tennis team and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach of the U20s Junior Wallabies Australian Rugby team. Now he has his own strength & conditioning business called Rivals Athlete Performance Centre. Primarily working with youth netball athletes as netball has an incredibly high injury rate. Jackson’s focus is injury prevention based on his own experiences with injuries and how they can impact your sporting career. 

Luke Postlethwaite is an accredited exercise physiologist, a sports scientist, founder and managing director of The Biomechanics - a multidisciplinary practice that focuses on ethical, patient-centred healthcare.  He is also the director and educator at The Knowledge Exchange, a professional education provider with courses approved by the British Journal Sports Medicine, Exercise Sport Science Australia, Royal Australia College of General Practitioners, Osteopathy Australia and more. These courses aim to empower clinicians to adopt a contemporary biopsychosocial approach to their clinical practice and help translate current evidence into practice.

John Olsen ran a busy practice for many years, treating all sorts of injuries.  Consequently, John has developed skills in all areas.  John has a history in martial arts, having practiced to an elite level in his younger years.  He has a keen interest in Rugby Union sports and associated injuries!  John was involved with Rugby teams for many years in NZ.  His areas of special interest are complex spinal presentations and shoulder injury and impairment management. Lately, John has had a keen interest in researching the shoulder, and has begun presentations on the topic to other therapists and medical practitioners.

Mitchell Finn graduated from QUT in 2016 after completing a bachelor of Exercise Science. During his early career he has worked for numerous commercial gyms, local sporting organisations and high school strength and conditioning programs. He now works with ESSA as the member development office for exercise science as well as a gym manager at a commercial facility where he has continued his passion for getting the most out of groups and teams. These experiences have resulted in a passion for training and mentoring children and adolescents to not just perform at their best but to grow and develop as humans outside the gym as well.
