It’s easy for professionals to assume that when a client complains it’s usually related to a poor clinical outcome for that client. However Guild Insurance’s experience in managing professional indemnity claims suggests the reasons behind complaints are much more varied. Guild sees many complaints where the behaviour, communication and professional conduct of the professional is the cause of the client’s complaint. This session will cover what professionals can and should be doing to reduce the likelihood of these complaints from occurring, as well as how to respond to them if they do occur so they don’t escalate.
Presented by Ms Christie Boucher, BAppSc, GDip
Christie has over 20 years’ experience as an educator having started her career as a secondary school health and physical education teacher. For more than 15 years Christie’s career has been focused on developing risk management education resources and programs for various professionals. Christie has a keen interest in the role education can play in managing risk by raising awareness and changing behaviour.
