Research Committee and Publications Committee - Expressions of Interest

As the lead organisation for exercise and sports science in Australia, Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is increasingly asked to provide a position or comment regarding the latest research in exercise science, exercise physiology and sports science.

Over the last 12 months, ESSA has been considering its role in research and the governance structure required to support these activities. The Research Review Committee (RRC) was established to review the current arrangements to support research within ESSA, and also review the future research requirements for ESSA. The changes being considered are reflective of the development and progress of ESSA as an organisation and also consider how ESSA can continue to contribute, and increase, their role in directing and undertaking relevant research.

ESSA is now inviting expressions of interest from committed ESSA members and academics from the exercise and sports science field to establish a new Research Committee and a Publications Committee.

ESSA is looking to form the Research Committee to oversee and define ESSA’s research priorities and activities, as well as assist with the translation and dissemination of Australian exercise and sports science research.

The Publications Committee is being formed to oversee ESSA’s positions statements, consensus statements and guidelines and collaboration with other organisations on the development of joint documents.

Please see the Terms of Reference documents for details on the roles and responsibilities for each committee.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, 7 December 2018.

Should you require additional information regarding the application process, the commitment involved or any other matters, please contact Anita Hobson-Powell at
