Applications for Full Accreditation

An application for full accreditation for a new course must be submitted as soon as the inaugural cohort of students commence studying the third to last semester of the course.
Education providers must liaise with the Course Accreditation Manager four months before the application is to be submitted, to schedule a mutually agreeable date for the application submission.
The Course Accreditation Manager will issue a deposit invoice (10% of the full application fee) three months before the agreed application submission date. This non-refundable deposit must be paid two months before the agreed application submission date. An invoice for the balance (90% of the application fee) will be issued upon receipt of the application. Please refer to ESSA’s web page Course Accreditation Fees, which lists all fees associated with course accreditation.
Education providers must ensure they have read and understood the Course Accreditation Guide and the appendices (Exercise Science Standards and Accredited Exercise Physiologist Professional Standards) before completing and submitting a course accreditation application.
For courses that are delivered at multiple campuses (either part or in full), education providers must read and understand ESSA's Multi Campus Policy if either all or part of the course that is submitted for accreditation is delivered at other campuses. Please note that where a course is also delivered by distance (off-campus), this is considered as a sperate campus. For a course delivered at multiple campuses, information specific to each campus will need to be provided within the application form and this must be clearly highlighted. Tables may need to be replicated to provide information for each campus, as applicable.
Course accreditation is campus specific. For education providers who already have an accredited course, but mid-accreditation cycle wish to apply to extend the accreditation of that course to another campus or to introduce the delivery of the course by distance, please contact the Course Accreditation Manager.
The following documents will need to be downloaded and completed in full as applicable, depending on whether accreditation is being sought at the level of Exercise Science and/or Exercise Physiology.

Five complete hard copies (printed double-sided), and one electronic (provided on a USB) copy of the application and supporting documents are required to be forwarded by the agreed application submission date via courier to the ESSA National Office, addressed as below.

Presentation of Application Submissions
Applications submissions must be sufficiently detailed and coherently organised to permit a thorough evaluation by a review team. Sufficient detail must be provided to enable reviewers to familiarise themselves with the course and the material being submitted as evidence.
Important: Tables of contents, sequential page numbers, tabbed and labelled dividers inserted in between each section of each document are required.
Documents provided as evidence must be clearly labelled and referenced within the application submission. Units of study must appear in the appendices in the sequence they are delivered within the course, and each unit outline must be clearly identified within the table of contents. Unit outline titles must be consistent throughout the documentation. A list of evidence attachments must also be provided.
Application submissions must be provided as bound documents. It is anticipated that more than one bound document may be needed to accommodate one copy of one application submission.
Please do not use ring-binder or lever arch folders to submit application documents.
