The Role of Educational Facilities in Australian Sport

Rebecca Eadie, AES, ASpS1

Rebecca is an Accredited Exercise Scientist and Accredited Sports Scientist as well as a Level 2 Professional Strength and Conditioning Coach. She is currently the Director of Athletic Development at St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School and was previously in the role of physical performance Coach at Queensland Cricket. In addition, she has provided strength and conditioning services to a range of representative pathway and semi-professional sporting teams along with an ongoing role with Queensland Rugby League Referees. Rebecca is passionate about long term athletic development and enjoys working with athletes at all stages of their physical preparation journey.

Matt Pollard, AES, AEP

Following graduating from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science and a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Matt began working at Rowville Sports Medicine Centre, now known as Rise Health Group. Through this organisation, Matt has been able to work as part of the Rowville Sports Academy for the past 11 years. Rowville Sports Academy is a high school based sports academy that aims to leverage strengths based learning for the students to help them progress through their high school years. In particular, Matt has led the team responsible for the athletic development and strength and conditioning programs for all 800 student-athletes within the Rowville Sports Academy.

Matt has also been heavily involved in the development of a student placement program that sees Rise Health Group supervise approximately 200 Exercise Science students per year within the Rowville Sports Academy. This is a result of years of system development to allow the University students to gain first hand, real world, practical experience.

A large portion of Matt’s week is now focused in the rehabilitation space, but he continues to have a strong focus on the development of the Exercise Science profession. He is passionate about advocacy in these spaces, which sees him hold positions within Exercise and Sports Science Australia as well as an advisor on multiple University boards.
