Building Stronger Athletes by Breaking the Rules Webinar

Building Stronger Athletes by Breaking the Rules Webinar
This presentation provides development opportunities for ESSA professionals to build on current evidence-based practice around programming for the athlete, to programming a supportive environment that allows athletes to provide input and control their own training. This webinar expands on the quote "the best program is the one the athlete completes." The presentation supports the ESSA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Practice by presenting leadership tactics that support semi-professional coaches and athletes that have jobs, families, play more than one sport, and might travel 2 hours to training with late nights.

Building Stronger Athletes by Breaking the Rules Webinar

If you've ever had to repeat yourself over and over, then your current strategy to coach isn't going to work. We need to recognise that the best athletes fail, the best athletes don't listen, and best athletes break all the rules. Athletes only become the best by exceeding boundaries, so as a coach we need to embrace chaos and foster environments that support this.

I will discuss the differences identified between male and female sporting environments, challenges faced in each environment, and follow this up by providing strategies to foster environments that support chaos (rather than control) to improve athlete performance. Similar strategies can also be used in rehabilitation environments.

This presentation provides development opportunities for ESSA professionals to build on current evidence-based practice around programming for the athlete, to programming a supportive environment that allows athletes to provide input and control their own training.
