Australian Sports Anti-doping Authority online education

The Australian Sports Anti-doping Authority (ASADA) is tasked to support, encourage, develop and implement initiatives that increase the skills and knowledge of people involved in sporting activities about anti-doping matters. The purpose of ASADA is to protect the health of athletes and the integrity of Australian sport through engagement, deterrence, detection and enforcement activities aimed at minimising the risk of doping.

Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is a professional organisation which is committed to establishing, promoting and defending the career paths of tertiary trained exercise and sports science practitioners. By working together, ESSA and ASADA aim to ensure all members, particularly those involved in the high-performance pathway, have access to consistently high quality anti-doping education.

ASADA’s Education and Awareness programs are key to preventing doping in Australia and protecting the health of all Australian athletes and the integrity of sport. ASADA has a suite of education programs which target specific groups of the Australian sporting community, from elite athletes down to the grassroots level, as well as coaches, support personnel, doctors and high school students. This is complemented by several awareness projects, including forums, bulletins, campaigns and new technological approaches to reach young athletes.

ASADA’s successful and award winning online learning material consists of a Level 1 course covering core anti-doping information and an annual Level 2 course that covers additional up-to-date/topical content. The online learning system also hosts additional specific content for coaches and medical support staff as well as an ethical decision making based modules.
