Maternal Health for Professionals
During the fantastic course we will explore exercise prescription for an uncomplicated pregnancy and highlight post-partum considerations including diastasis rectus. Your maternal clients will appreciate your knowledge and practical skills learnt in our exercise and maternal health course.
Upon completion of our course you will develop skills and understand:
1. Guidelines for Exercise prescription for uncomplicated pregnancies (during each trimester)
2. Benefits, Risks and limitations associated with exercise during pregnancy
3. Contraindications to exercise during pregnancy
4. Maternal and physiological changes that occur during the three trimesters of pregnancy
5. Prevalence and types of miscarriages that can occur
6. Exercise prescription for strength and conditioning of pelvic floor musculature.
Presented by Mia J Kacen
Mia J Kacen graduated as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist at UNSW. Mia completed her Masters in International Public Health at Sydney University and worked in Geneva, Switzerland at the United Nations, World Health Organisation Headquarters in 2011 and 2012 focusing on preventing non-communicable diseases, reducing childhood obesity and developing the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).
As a young Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), Mia won AEP of the year for 2012. Her health promotional research is published with the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation) and the Health Promotion Journal of Australia.
Mia is a key health consultant and spokesperson for Workplace and family health to government agencies and executives. With over 10 years of experience, Mia is an ambitious and innovative leader in the fitness, clinical and public health arena.
Mia J established Mia’s Health, in 2009 to educate entrepreneurs and empower health care professionals to advance their specialist skills through exclusive networking events and professional development conferences, subsequently encouraging multi-disciplinary partnerships.
Mia currently resides in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and loves singing, playing piano and water skiing.
