Overview

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the major function of the endocrine system
  • Demonstrate understanding of the female reproductive system
  • Name at least three major female hormones and their major action
  • Explain cortisol rhythm and body clocks
  • Explain the role of oxidative stress, free radicals and inflammation in adrenal fatigue
  • Reflect on the role of DHEA in women’s health
  • Define the stages of menopause from peri-menopause, menopause and post menopause
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the physiological factors in the onset of menopause
  • Give a common definition of endometriosis
  • List at least four possible sites of endometrial tissues in endometriosis
  • Define and give an example of an endocrine disruptor
  • Explain the microbiome / hormone relationship
