Restoring Optimal Function Series: Core & Pelvis

This practical workshop is ideal for health professionals who are looking to tailor personalised programs for their 1-on-1 clients to restore optimal function in the CORE & PELVIS region.

 

The anatomy involved in maintaining core and pelvic stability will be reviewed, along with assessment techniques to test core and pelvic stability. We will examine the most common injuries and dysfunctions that you will see in your client and the best progressive strengthening program for each system of pelvic and core muscles to address these issues.

 

Topics Covered Include:

PART 1: CORE STABILITY

  • Understand optimal core stability
  • Understand the anatomy of core stability
  • Understand how core stability reacts to Pain
  • Understand how to assess core stability
  • Demonstrate exercises specific for – Transversus Abdominus, Multifidus, Pelvic Floor and Diaphragm
  • Understand that core is the beginning of ANY exercise program & is an essential base for a pelvic stability program

 

PART 2: PELVIC STABILITY

  • Understand optimal pelvic stability
  • Understand the anatomy of pelvic stability including teams of muscles and muscle slings
  • Understand how to assess pelvic stability
  • Understand how tight muscles & postural problems will affect the longitudinal system during gait
  • Demonstrate specific exercises for each system – Posterior oblique, Anterior Oblique and Lateral Pelvic Stability

 

PART 3: LOW BACK PROBLEMS RESULTING FROM POOR LUMBAR SPINAL CONTROL

  • Understand the importance of posture in preventing injury
  • Understand the role of core and pelvic stability muscles in preventing low back injury and pain
  • Demonstrate exercises to maintain lumbar spinal control
