The aim of this online course is to introduce gait analysis & retraining concepts and techniques to upskill allied health professionals. It will present participants with the knowledge and tools to analyse and describe human gait and prescribe exercises that will assist in the retraining of the gait pattern. The online course will consist of both theory and practical components integrated to develop knowledge and skills in gait analysis and retraining.
Dr Robert Crowther is a senior university lecturer and accredited exercise physiologist with over nine years experience in both tertiary teaching and clinical experience. Dr Crowther completed his PhD on the effects of exercise training on lower limb gait in patients with peripheral arterial disease. He is a senior lecturer in the School Health Science at the University of South Australia, with teaching interests in biomechanics, motor learning and control, strength training and conditioning and clinical exercise physiology with a particular interest in the neuromusculoskeletal aspects of gait and posture. He has published research in the area of gait and biomechanics with particular focus of gait variability. Dr Crowther is the principal of a specialised gait rehabilitation clinic. He has a range of clients from cerebral palsy patients to injured professional athletes, all of which have benefited from gait rehabilitation and retraining.
