Health Industry Claims and Payments Services (HICAPS) is now available for Accredited Exercise Physiologists to assist in claiming rebates from patient health funds, Medicare Australia (under Medicare EasyClaim) & WorkSafe Victoria services on behalf of patients at the point of service.
HICAPS is a useful payment option to have available in your practice. It makes it easier for patients to claim for rebates from their health fund on the spot. If you are registered for Medicare EasyClaim, you can save time by electronically claiming Medicare-based services instead of having to complete Medicare bulk-billing vouchers. HICAPS also has an EFTPOS function for collecting payments. AEPs wishing to register for HICAPs can complete the registration form and a HICAPS representative will contact them.

ESSA, in conjunction with HICAPS developed the following codes to assist you in claiming for patient services.

There are fees and charges associated with utilising HICAPS. These include $25 for monthly terminal rental (including both HICAPs and EFTPOS transactions) and a debit fee of $0.15 per transaction. Fees are also charged for payments made by credit card. Applicable fees and charges should be discussed with HICAPS during your enquiries.
