This presentation explores the efficacy of using cold water immersion as a recovery therapy after acute (single) and chronic (regular) bouts of strength exercise. Evidenced by previous literature and data collected during doctoral studies, research-informed information on physiological and performance responses will be presented. Information will also be discussed with relation to delineating between recovery for performance promotion, and recovery from an adaptation promotion perspective. The presentation will conclude with a summary of some current guidelines for practitioners regarding the efficacy of cold water immersion protocol characteristics, and timing.
The recording is of a webinar presented by ESSA on 22 October 2014.
