Exercise Prescription Over the Telephone Webinar

What we’ve learnt delivering the ECHO trial over the phone

Dr Rosa Spence brings over a decade of experience in delivering exercise over the telephone, as well as training and supervising other AEPs to do the same. This professional development will provide an overview of what works, and what doesn’t, when utilising this novel mode of delivery. In particular, the program will include tips for developing and maintaining rapport with clients, ways to figure out what exercise is being completed – when you’re not there to watch, and how to help participants become more active and obtain the benefits of exercise, even when they can’t come to you. Examples will come from the ECHO trial (Exercise during Chemotherapy for Ovarian cancer) and will have a focus on increasing physical activity levels in those with complex medical conditions. The content will be particularly relevant to those working with individuals on GP management plans.

Presented by Dr Rosa Spence, PhD, AEP

She is an author on the ESSA national position statement on exercise medicine in cancer management and the “Exercise is Medicine” Exercise and cancer fact sheets. Dr Spence is passionate about research that provides the foundation for evidence-based exercise prescription for cancer survivors, as well as working one-on-one with cancer survivors and helping them set and meet their exercise goals.
