Periodised Progression for Clinical and Sub-clinical Podcast

Periodization is an established practice in athletic conditioning that can be usefully translated to the development of engaging and progressive exercise programming for clinical and sub-clinical populations. The aim of this workshop is to encourage clinical exercise professionals to consider the potential of applying a more varied and structured periodized program for these client groups. The focus in on Chronic Disease Self Management and the challenges to progression presented by the events of daily living.

This professional development demonstrates a series of periodised schedules for aerobic conditioning with resources to facilitate introduction of Moderate Intensity Continuous Exercise (MICE) and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) approaches to programming. Discussion will be encouraged on the training metrics appropriate for these groups.

The recording is of a webinar presented by ESSA on 13 March 2018.
