Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is often viewed as a challenging condition to manage and affects up to 168,000 people in Australia alone. There is significant controversy in the role of exercise in the management of CFS with some parts of the CFS community viewing it as dangerous or undermining as it insinuates CFS is primarily deconditioning. As AEP’s we understand that exercise is not a cure for chronic health conditions but needs to be prescribed in a manner that does not lead to an exacerbation of a person’s condition such as CFS.
This professional development delivers a brief background on CFS but then focuses on giving you tools to take away and use in clinical practice. You will have an understanding of how to firstly prescribe pacing and then exercise in a safe manner so that it improves self-management and quality of life.
