Tall Tales and True Podcast

This presentation examines the evidence for the application of core stabilising exercise in the treatment and management of low back pain. It examines popular beliefs held by clinicians about core stabilising exercise and low back pain and whether these notions are supported in the literature. The use of “bracing” and “abdominal hollowing” manoeuvres in core stabilising exercise will be examined and guidelines for their application to different patient sub-groups presented. The theoretical basis underlying core stabilising exercise is applied clinically through case studies for 3 low back pain patients with vastly differing clinical presentations. The presentation concludes with a summary of the clinical guidelines for the use of core stabilising exercise for patients with low back pain.

The recording is of a webinar presented by ESSA on 21 August 2014.
