2020 ESSA WA State Symposium: Workers Compensation

Due to the success of the previous Symposiums, the ESSA WA State Chapter are proudly presenting another State Symposium, this year on the targeted specialty of Workers Compensation. This day will bring together a variety of ESSA professionals at this event, which promises to be a great learning day for all. 

The ESSA Western Australia State Chapter 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will immediately follow this professional development.

Presenters

Mrs Alixe Marion, AES, AEP, ESSAM
Absolute Balance
Alixe completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology graduating from Murdoch University in 2014, she has been working at Absolute Balance as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) in the Workers’ Compensation system since finishing her degree. Alixe has worked in the Health and Fitness industry for just over 12 years, working as a personal trainer prior to becoming an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Alixe has a vast amount of experience and knowledge in all areas of health and fitness, with her primary focus being clinical exercise rehabilitation in the Workers’ Compensation system. Alixe specialises in the rehabilitative management of injuries sustained in the workplace, ranging from post-operative rehabilitation to late-stage work hardening for physically demanding job roles. She has a special interest in post-operate shoulder and knee rehabilitation and managing lower back injuries conservatively. Alixe is passionate about helping patients get back to their best, achieving the best outcome possible with a holistic, biopsychosocial approach to rehabilitation. 

Mr Peter Kitt, AES, AEP, ESSAM
The Recovre Group Pty Limited 
Peter is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) who graduated from Murdoch University in 2013. He worked for 2 years’ in a clinical rehabilitation setting collaborating with Doctors and private clients with a vast range of clinical issues. He has been undertaking a variety of roles at Recovre since 2016 including working as an injury management advisor/Health Coordinator for a large not for profit organisation and a similar injury management adviser role for a large manufacturing company. 

Mr Julian Mancini
QBE
Julian joined QBE as an Injury Management Advisor in June 2014.  Prior to this, Julian graduated from Edith Cowan University with a degree in Exercise Physiology 2006; and a Graduate Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2008. Julian worked in private clinical settings for 7yrs working with a range of injuries and conditions both in the compensable and non-compensable setting before starting with QBE as an Injury Management Advisor. Julian has a passion for return to work and strong strategic planning in both the same employer and new employer setting as well as prevention of complex pain claims.

Ms Donna Nowotny
WorkCover WA
Donna has long-standing public sector career, working in investigative, regulatory and compliance roles. Donna has been a member of the WorkCover WA team 8 years, where she has enjoyed roles in educating a wide range of stakeholders with their legislative roles and responsibilities. Her particular area of interest is in regulating compliance with legal obligations and service expectations. Donna played an important role in developing WorkCover WA’s premier product, the Insurer and self-insure Principles and Standards of Practice and will continue to assist in developing a new suite of expectations for Workplace Rehabilitation Providers. She is currently working on an online professional development program aimed at ensuring insurance brokers are trained to assist clients with understanding and meeting their workers compensation responsibilities. Donna has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce. 

Mrs Linley Brown
WorkCover WA
Linley has recently started at WorkCover WA as the Manger Communications and Education. She comes to the agency with 14 years’ experience in the Public Sector working in a number of Departments including the Department of Education, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and more recently, Department of Fire and Emergency Services.  Her professional experiences and skills are in the development and implementation of targeted communication and education strategies using the principles of behaviour change and program logic. She is currently working on the development of a three year communications and education strategy for WorkCover WA with the aim to develop programs and initiatives that create the desired change in behaviors and attitudes required for WorkCover WA to lead a responsive and sustainable workers’ compensation scheme . Linley has a Bachelor of Science, Diploma in Education and a Masters in Strategic Communications. 

Miss Amy-Lee Robilliard, AES, AEP, ESSAM
Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation
Amy-Lee Robilliard is a Senior Clinical Exercise Physiologist, working within the Worker’s Compensation, MVA and Income Protection schemes at Guardian Exercise Rehabilitation for the past three and a half years. Throughout her time working for Guardian, Amy-Lee has gained firsthand clinical experience in schemes throughout both NSW and Perth Australia, treating those debilitated with musculoskeletal, mental health and chronic health conditions via structured exercise programmes. 
Amy-Lee has developed an intense passion in providing those ill-effected with mental health injuries, through quality and meaningful programmes to promote the physiological and psychosocial benefits that have been commonly associated with exercise and physical activity. To enhance her capabilities in this space she is currently undergoing her Masters of Mental Health with a focus on effective goal setting and motivational interviewing to elicit positive behavioural change within patients.
