What industry award do I fall under? What is my pay rate?

Awards are documents that describe the conditions of employment – this includes a lot of information from parental leave to meal allowances and rates of pay. There may be a number of awards and/or enterprise agreements that apply to your employment.

• AEP: If there are no enterprise bargaining agreements in the specific workplace, the Health Professionals and Support Services Award outlines the minimum wage for AEPs. *For those AEP graduates qualified with an undergraduate degree (e.g. 4 year Bachelor of Clinical Ex Phys) you will be classified at Level 1 pay point 3. If qualified with a Masters, the award classifies you at Level 1 pay point 4. You will typically move up to the next pay point after 12 months of full-time equivalent experience.
• AES: The awards that are commonly used to benchmark pay are the Health Professionals and Support Services Award  or the Fitness Industry Award 
• ASpS: Depending on the employer or any agreements in place, a number of awards could be relevant. Sporting Organisations Award 2020 (e.g. if employed by a national or state sporting organisation). Health Professionals and Support Services Award  (e.g. if employed by a private clinic).Fitness Industry Award (e.g. if employed as a PT).
• If you are not employed by any of the three above, you are officially Award free, but your employer must meet the national employment standards at a minimum. Fair Work Australia also advise that you should try and find an award that closely aligns to the work you are undertaking.

State Awards

If you work within a hospital setting or public sector, it is likely that you will fall under a state-based award.
