Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease Webinar

Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease Webinar

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Cardiovascular disease, is an umbrella term that describes diseases that affect the cardiovascular system – it includes heart disease, stroke and blood vessel disease. Heart Disease relates to conditions specifically related to the heart, and can include rhythm disorders, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular disease and other diseases that affect the heart.

Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular disease is critical to prevent further progression of the disease, disability and mortality. Management of CVD is achievable via lifestyle and pharmacological management. Exercise is one component of lifestyle management and has been proven to have a positive effect on CVD and all cause mortality. Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of CVD by 35% and reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes, breast and bowel cancer, and can have a significant impact on physical and mental health.

This webinar will cover key aspects relating to the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease via lifestyle management and patient care resources, health professional information to support patients with cardiovascular disease and Heart Foundation resources and programs to support patients through their care.
