Live Chat with Q&A: Super and Insurance Changes

The Hayne Royal Commission exposed terrible impacts that systemic greed and conflicts of interest have on ordinary consumers, including those claiming insurance for injury and illness.  Three years on from the final report, what has meaningfully changed?  Has the government delivered on its promises to act?  These issues will be discussed with reference to specific reforms that have improved consumer rights, such as the introduction of Unfair Contracts Terms to insurance and a less onerous duty of disclosure.  We will also discuss the reforms that are still yet to be implemented including Enforceable Code Provisions and the use of Universal terms for default insurance provided by superannuation funds.

with National Head of Superannuation and Insurance Litigation at Maurice Blackburn’s, Josh Mennen.

Admitted to legal practice in 2007, Josh head of Superannuation and Insurance Litigation nationally with oversight across 7 offices and over 20 staff.  Josh sits on the Board of Autism Queensland and The McKell Institute QLD.  He volunteers at the Caxton Legal Centre.  He is passionate about increasing consumer rights/awareness, and giving voice to those disempowered by illness, injury and socioeconomic barriers.
