Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Workshop Brisbane

Mental health problems are common. About 1 in 5 Australians experience a common mental illness each year. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training teaches practical skills to support someone with a mental health problem. Many people have difficulty knowing what to say or how to support someone who may be experiencing mental ill health. Mental Health First Aid is the initial help offered to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. This course teaches the signs, symptoms and psychological, lifestyle and medical interventions associated with the three most common mental illnesses, and one less common but very severe mental illness. This is an accredited course, with a certificate gained after completing a short online assessment. It is important for practitioners in Allied Health to have knowledge of mental illnesses and the confidence to respond in ways that support the person's health.
