NDIS Fundamentals for Exercise Physiologists: Clinical and Business Essentials Training and Support in NDIS Virtual Workshop

As of 30 June 2021, there are 466,619 Australians accessing the NDIS. The main objective of the NDIS is to provide all Australians who, before the age of 65, acquire a permanent disability that substantially impacts how they manage everyday activities with the reasonable and necessary support they need to live a meaningful life.

Exercise Physiology is a relatively new service that is accessible by participants of the NDIS, with many either not understanding the role that EP’s play, or how their funding works.

The purpose of this virtual workshop is to inform AEP’s and business owners about the role that Exercise Physiologists play within the disability sector. We will look at the NDIS as a system - where it came from and its challenges - the role of EP’s in the system, how to deliver excellent client experiences to NDIS Participants by understanding reporting and assessment requirements, and how to start building a caseload of NDIS participants by reaching out to the right professionals in your local community.

This is a pre-recorded self-paced virtual workshop.

Presented by Andrew Daubney, AEP, ESSAM, MAICD, Cert IV (Business) & Lauren Tapp, AES, AEP, BAppSci(ExPhys)

Andrew: Rebound Health is a multidisciplinary Allied Health company with 3 stand-alone clinics and two satellite locations in NSW.

Since no-longer practicing as an Exercise Physiologist, Andrew's role is to help develop the team - by providing opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, career pathways and learning and development.

Lauren: Currently, in Lauren’s role as the Head Exercise Physiologist at Rebound Health she has both a senior clinical and team management role.  Lauren’s clinical case load includes providing treatment for and supporting people living with physical, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities.  She specialises in working with people living with neurological conditions. Her role also involves developing new and current team members in their clinical skills and understanding the NDIS framework and system.

Lauren has previously worked as a Disability Support Worker and Exercise Physiologist at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance working solely within the disability population, utilising both gym and hydrotherapy spaces.  Lauren is also a certified FFA facilitator through Diabetes NSW and ACT.
