Scopes of Practice
ESSA’s Scopes of Practice are foundational documents that reflect the minimum knowledge, skills and competencies to gain accreditation. They explain the typical activities of entry level practitioners and help the public to identify a practitioner suited to them:
Accredited Exercise Physiologist
Accredited Exercise Scientist
Accredited Sports Scientist
Accredited High Performance Manager
ESSA accredited professionals will advance or expand their practice through formal professional development and ongoing experience, and will have an ever changing individual scope of practice.
ESSA has developed a Scope of Practice Framework Policy and a Decision Tree that will assist individuals in deciding if they are competent to perform the service, and if it is ethical to do so.
The Accredited Exercise Physiologist Service Descriptors provide further information of how an AEP may offer their services.
