Moving forward virtually
COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world in a range of ways, including how conferences, which have been traditionally face-to-face events, around the globe are hosted.
After much thought and consideration, ESSA have made the decision in late 2020to deliver the Research to Practice 2021 conference virtually.
This delivery format provided an opportunity to those who wouldn't be able to experience the conference due to the COVID-19 situation, whilst maintaining our high-level program and content.
ESSA's priority is always the safety of our professionals and ensuring the safety of those in our communities and industry was also a consideration.
After going ahead in May of this year, our first ever virtual Research to Practice conference was a total success!
We were thrilled to be able to continue on the reputation and legacy that Research to Practice provides the exercise and sports science industry, this time, from the comfort of our own homes and offices.
Over 1,100 delegates attended the three-day program and enjoyed the wide range of presenters and sessions, across a variety of specialisations. Popular presentations included that of Professor Andy Jones, Professor Lorimer Moseley AO, Professor Fiona Wood AM, Emeritus Professor Brian Dawson, and Emeritus Professor Julie R Steele AM.
It's important to thank the Conference Co-Chairs and Committee who dedicated two years to bring this conference to life. Their dedication and passion created a high-quality program that received high praise from all delegates.
$10,000 was also raised for our Conference Charity, Pain Revolution through the funds raised from every paying registration.
