Exercise Science Accreditation (AES) is available to graduates of a minimum AQF Level 7 qualification, leading to the award of a Bachelor degree, who are able to satisfy the ESSA Exercise Science (ES) Standards, including 140 hours of practical experience.

If you are applying to undertake postgraduate study in the near future in order to become an AEP and do not wish to practise as an AES, please refer to the graduate entry assessment section.

OVERVIEW
ESSA has acknowledged the challenges that exercise and sports science graduates (AQF Level 7 or above),who graduated prior to 1st January 2012, face in obtaining their Exercise Science accreditation (AES) due to the change in the Exercise Science Standards in recent years.
As of 1st January 2018, for a 12-month period, anyone who has a Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7 or above) in exercise and sports science, who graduated prior to 1st January 2012 and has worked in the exercise science / sports science industry for at least 5 years full time equivalent (FTE), is encouraged to apply for accreditation through the AES Amnesty Pathway.

This one-off opportunity is designed to assist exercise scientists and sports scientists gain their accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) or Accredited Sports Scientist (ASpS).

Important information for exercise and sports science graduates between the years of 2012 and 2016.

If you have graduated from an exercise and sports science degree between 1st January 2012 and 31st December 2016, we encourage you to apply for AES. 

In completing the application form please address the exercise science standards as best you can, through submitting a variety of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and competencies relating to each of the Exercise Science standards. This one-off opportunity is designed to assist exercise scientists and sports scientists gain their accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) or Accredited Sports Scientist (ASpS).
